House Arrest 2011

Last week something happened that is rare in these parts and I needed to commit myself to a nut house almost lost my mind! It seems like at least once a year, we get a snowstorm in Dallas and it shuts the city down for about a day.  It is laughable for me to think that some snow could have this effect on an entire metroplex, but they are definitely not equipped to handle northern like weather here in the south.  They throw some sand out in the intersections and hope for the best.  I learned to drive in this kind of weather being that my birthday is in January, but I must say that I'm hesitant to get out in it down here.  Why? Well people around here think that their big suv's and trucks can drive on ice, so they drive 50 mph and ride your tail like you are the idiot taking precautions on such dangerous streets.  It is craziness I tell ya! So, needless to say, the roads contributed to my 4 day house arrest that just about did me in! The boys were more than thrilled to have so many days off of school and I was thrilled when the sun came out Saturday that melted the snow and gave me promise of a return to school on Monday! All this excitement about a return to school may be short lived though as there is an 80% chance of snow on Wednesday...I should probably go get a couple bottles of wine now.  Here are the pics from our Snowmageddon 2011 (here is last year's experience with the crazy weather):

Snow on palms is so not normal!

The girls were very concerned about this little scarecrow girl.  They went up and were petting her and said "Aw Momma she so code. She needs her minky (blankie)!" So cute!

Boys and their toys!

So that was round one.  If the weathermen are correct, I may have a whole new round of snow pictures on Wednesday. (can you hear the excitement in my voice?)
