As you can imagine, our only real plan for the week of vacation was to hang out on the beach. There is just something about the ocean that relaxes me to know end and also makes me want to have a nice cold drink in my hand...preferably that of the adult assortment. I had such a good time catching up with my Aunts and watching all of the kids play and I decided that if we can't do this every year, it at least needs to be every 2 years. Such fun memories!
Landrie was pretty much over having her picture taken by the end of the week! Ha!
Searching for seashells. They were completed enthralled with hunting for the perfect shells. Landrie found a couple of little clam shells that were still connected and she called them "butterflies." I even found a shark tooth but lost it somewhere on the beach!
The last two nights of vacation we headed out to a couple of bars on Gulf Shores. The first one was called "The Hangout" and it was a blast. It had a little bit of everything and I definitely recommend it to anyone traveling to Gulf Shores. They had great live music, little boutiques to shop in (which you know I loved), neat sitting areas, sand castle pits for the kids, a bubble machine for the kids and even a kid friendly bar where they could get all kinds of treats and toys. There were also lots of ping pong tables and other games to play so it most definitely made for a great family outing. I didn't have my camera but do have video of Ella dancing on tables that I need to get off my phone. This girl is going to be T.R.O.U.B.L.E!
Our last night of vacation, we went to a bar called "Lulu's" and it is owned by Jimmy Buffet's sister. He has been known to occasionally drop in for an impromptu show so you better believe that we were hoping for that when we arrived! Ha! Lulu's has the same setup as The Hangout with lots of things for all ages. I personally preferred Lulu's as it seemed more spread out and laid back and felt like you were right on the beach even though you were not. We had a two hour wait for a table, but it seriously felt like about 30 min and I could've just sat and people watched all night. The big kids ran around and played beach volleyball and the girls sat and built sand castles while the adults sat and sipped beer and bushwhackers (this drink is a must if you visit Gulf Shores!)
We ended our night at Lulu's with one more drink before we had to head home to pack. I don't know that I've ever been so sad to leave a vacation but things were made a little better knowing that we were stopping in Lafayette to see our Wilson's the next day!
To Be Continued...
