We left the beach on June 25th which also happened to be a certain guys big 13th birthday. Yes it is true, we officially have a teenager living in the Brummett house and I'm happy to report , so far so good! I seriously can hardly believe that Galen is 13 because I feel like I was just meeting him when he was 5. I try not to think about the fact that we are only 2 1/2 very short years away from him being behind the wheel and 5 short years until we send him off in to the college world. Ugh!
We arrived in Louisiana in the late afternoon and we were ready for a visit with the Wilson's. We said our hello's with hugs and kisses and then we all suited up with coolers in hand to head to the pool. I mean, I don't think we spent enough time in the water all week! Ha! We were the only ones at the pool so it was nice to just visit and relax together.
The girls have become quite the little water bugs this summer and are doing really great in the pool. Landrie is really brave and just started jumping off the wall and going under all on her own. Having swam my whole life, it definitely makes my heart happy knowing that our kids love the water and are comfortable in it.
After a couple hours at the pool the kiddos started to get a little water logged and were ready to go. Landrie got out and was drying off when Jacksie decided that he wanted to cuddle up next to her
She wasn't feeling it apparently as witnessed by her stretched out legs trying to take up space for Jackson to lay. He got smart though and decided to resort to some moves that involved some sweet sugars!
I mean, I could not resist that myself but apparently Landrie is a hard one to win over. A compromise happened though and Landrie decided it was ok as long as Jackson had his own towel...and you better believe that she made sure he stayed on his own towel and kept her legs out stretched!
We stripped the kiddos down when we got back from the pool and of course had to let them run around naked to dry off. You better believe that they had a blast!
Jackson got real excited and just couldn't contain himself and he decided that his Momma's door mat needed some watering. I was waiting for it to happen and he was just so tickled with himself when it did.
The Wilson's have a nice little pond and walking trail in the neighborhood that they are lucky enough to back up to. After dinner we all headed outside to play and let the big boys do some fishing. These three had a blast running around and I'm pretty sure that Jackson was just happy as a little clam to have two of his favorite girls to play with. And I'm not sure if you notice, but Kristen and I did and decided that they could totally be siblings!
The guys caught a handful of fish and a couple were pretty good size. Jackson was pretty interested in what they were doing but still didn't want to get to close to one of the fish that they caught. He was telling Garret something and I can only guess that it went something like " Hey dude, you see that fish over there? That is huge and I'm not going anywhere near it! You think you can go a head and throw it back in the water?!" Haha!
So once it got dark and we had been pretty much eaten alive by mosquitoes, we headed in for showers and bedtime. The girls slept on Jacksie's floor like they did during Mardi Gras. Kristen and I stayed up for a bit chatting, but we were two tired Momma's that could hardly keep our eyes open.
We woke up in the morning and packed the car and said some our goodbyes to head home from our long 10 days away. Visiting with our Wilson's and seeing their beautiful new home was a perfect end to our great vacation. I don't know when the girls and I will be going back, but I can tell you that it won't be long!!!
