The Beach

So this is the final post about our trip to Florida and probably some of my favorite pics from our trip. We went to the beach twice while we were there and our first trip was more of an unpacking of the car just to turn around and repack it. It had nothing to do with the weather, which was beautiful, and there were no crazy ocean warnings posted. Our first "trip" was cut short by two little girls that despise the feeling of sand on their feet. I guess they are too young to understand that this is one of the great thrills in life, but they were not having any part of the beach the first day. I'm glad I didn't get a chance to attempt photos that day because they would have all been of crying babies. Our second outing to the beach went MUCH better. Ella was happy as a clam as soon as we got there and made a beeline for the waves coming up on shore. She loved everything that day and it could've had a little bit to do with the fact that we got them some water shoes for this day.

Landrie needed a little more time to warm up to the beach. We sat her on a blanket, where she stayed for about a half hour happily playing in buckets of water.

She also decided that she really, really likes the taste of salt water and proceeded to drink half a bucket of it

Landrie finally decided to get up from her blanket after Ella offered to hold her hand and make her feel a little more safe at the beach...Ella does have to take care of her little sister after all!

Once both girls were up and running, there was no stopping them! Ella enjoyed more of the incoming waves with Mamaw and splashing in some more buckets

Landrie had fun looking for seashells and digging in the sand with them. She also had to deal with a case of "beach butt."

Along with burying your feet in the sand while at the beach, something else that is pretty normal and expected it to lounge back, shut your eyes and soak up the sun. This is another thing that the girls obviously were not clued in to because they really had fun running up and pointing in everyone's face that was trying to nap. Luckily they are cute and got away with it!

After about 2 hrs of fun in the sun and sand, the girls were more than ready for nap time. Gigi and Mamaw were nice enough to take the girls home to nap so that I could stay at the beach for a bit and enjoy some adult time. It was so, so nice and much needed! I would say that the second trip was a great success and the girls should be seasoned pros the next time they get to head to the beach!
